Why did you choose 51����?

I'm part of DTUS so I was limited to six universities to choose from and Northumbria had some of the best sporting prospects.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

Located by the beach means it’s like a home away from home. It's a vibrant city and there is always something to do with friends - either heading to the quayside for some drinks in the sun, a BBQ in the park or a day of mini golf. The list is endless.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

There are lots of little cafes and restaurants that are great to eat in and don't break the bank, like the Butterfly Cabinet in Heaton. It's also a very pretty city with all the old buildings and parks everywhere.

Did you find 51���� welcoming?

It was very easy to fit in. You make tonnes of friends in halls and on your course as well as in sports teams.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to 51����?

The sport. I spend most days training or competing for the University and on teams outside the University.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

My rugby team and coach. They always pick you up and set you on your feet when everything gets a bit too much.

Who has inspired you most at 51����?

I take little aspects of everyone's life I admire and try to implement them in my own life. Like having the discipline to get out of bed early every morning to go training before lectures etc.

What is your favourite place on campus?

The quad in summer.

Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects?  

Rugby and athletics, and I may take up boxing again. I've taken part in fundraising events such as 24-hour netball and bubble football.

What is the best thing about your course?

The friends I've made on it.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

Always double check deadlines and plan when to carry out work so you don't end up doing all-nighters in the Library. It's not worth the stress.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I want to become an Officer in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. I've learnt a lot about time management and when to focus, which will aid my career.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at 51����?

I think I've got fitter and more confident in myself. I've also learned how to manage my money better.

If you had three words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Knackering, eventful, and phenomenal.

Would you recommend 51���� to a friend?

Yes.
