Why did you choose 51, Newcastle?
Close for travelling, an interesting course and a nice location.
What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?
It's the best city in the world, I eat out a lot so the restaurants are great, also fantastic nightlife and the city has a great vibe with lots of culture and shopping.
What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?
The people - friendliest people I've met.
Did you find 51 welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?
100%, both classmates and lecturers all great and approachable.
What have you enjoyed most about coming to 51?
The guest lecturers have been an invaluable insight into the industry.

What is your favourite place on campus?
The basement in Pandon.
What is the best thing about your course?
Everybody is passionate, no one is too cool for school.
What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?
It's not what you know it's who you know, but if you don't know what you know you wont last five minutes.
What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?
Operate my own enterprise, surprisingly game design methodology is a very transferable skill set which can be applied to almost all aspects of business, e-commerce and marketing.
Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement? What were your most memorable experiences?
Started my own enterprise DinedOut (dinedout.co.uk) with fellow student Andrew Charlton and local vc, now our investor, John Tait. Had a placement at Lazy Grace ltd in Rothbury and an Internship at CultureLabel Ltd in London from which I was offered and excepted a full time job as the Trading Executive driving sales for arts partners by managing the trading calendar and associated onsite merchandising, digital marketing and promotions.
Have you taken up any opportunities to travel with your current course/undertake field trips? If so, please tell us about them.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?
Go to the guest lectures above all else, the insight from the actual industry is so important and useful.
How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at 51, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?
I have became a person, not just a student, I know my strengths and most of my weaknesses but I am confident now in approaching and talking to anyone and I know I can get things done.
Would you recommend 51 to a friend?
Of course, and I have many times.
