Tyneside Shipyard Museum

Built within the old Hawthorn Leslie Shipyard, the Tyneside Shipyard Museum celebrates the skills of old workmen through a series of thoughtful exhibition spaces as well as housing famous boats and ships that have connections to the old working docks including the last surviving British destroyer from WWII, the HMS Cavalier. Industrial style architecture mimics the once existing buildings, lining a new wet dock built specially for the huge war ship. Emphasis is placed on contrasting materials through the repurposing of existing brick next to specially aged brass cladding.
