Smith’s Dock Ferry Terminal
The proposal for a ferry terminal at Smith’s Dock North Shields, to act as a central hub for future expansion along the Tyne, with the aspirations of strengthening the existing public transportation of the region, to provide better opportunity for pedestrians both for work and leisure.
Homage has been paid throughout the design of the building, with constant links to the site’s industrial past, both in its materiality and form.
The reinstation of the drydocks in the method of algae raceway ponds, harvesting green energy on site, to create the shift in ambiance from a dirty and dangerous past to a clean future.
