The weeks leading up to
Christmas are a time to meet up with friends old and new, look back at the
year’s successes and celebrate with cake. And that’s exactly what members of
the project will be doing next week when they hold
their monthly networking event.
The CAKE (Collaboration and
Knowledge Exchange) event will bring together businesses, freelancers,
academics, charities and creative practitioners from across the North East’s creative,
digital and IT sectors.
The regular
events are designed to generate debate, explorative discussion and stimulate
new innovative ideas by exploring a particular theme from a variety of
different perspectives.
Creative Fuse North East is
a partnership between Northumbria, Newcastle, Durham, Sunderland and Teesside

This is the 27th CAKE event to
take place since the launch of the Creative Fuse project in 2016 and will
provide those attending a chance to celebrate all that has been "fused"
over the last 12 months, as well as looking ahead on 2019.
Speakers will
include James Hanson, from Green
Spaces (Layers); Matthew Read, from
Bowes Museum; Justin Souter, from Souter Consulting Limited and Eric
Cross, Principal Investigator for Creative Fuse North East at Newcastle
University.
Creative Fuse
North East welcome attendees to join them for a drink and a chance to share the
exciting new projects they have been working on in the last year, bringing
innovative new ideas, jobs, events and opportunities to the North East.
Businesses, freelancers, artists and academics from across the creative, digital
and IT sectors are invited to attend the networking event, which takes place at Breeze Creatives, in Bamburgh
House, Newcastle on Wednesday 12 December between 5pm and 7.30pm.
Over the past two years, Creative
Fuse has conducted research into the Creative, Digital and IT sector landscape
in the North East and has encouraged businesses to share best practice and
adopt new, innovative ways of working.
The aim has been to help the
sector become more resilient and encourage growth, creating more and better
jobs for the region.
The project has also
explored how skills in the creative and tech industries could be shared more
widely to encourage innovation in other sectors.
The Northumbria team
involved in Fuse, led by Mark Bailey and a team from the School of Design, has
developed innovation-readiness programmes delivered to over 50 SME’s and led a
