On Pg. 4, you can read about how volunteers at Northumbria’s School of Design and the Faculty of Health & Life Sciences produced vital PPE and healthcare equipment for the NHS workers of the North East. Meanwhile, the first graduates of the UK’s first ever Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship scheme have joined the frontline at Newcastle Hospitals during the global pandemic (Pg. 32).
On Pg. 7, we feature Professor Greta Defeyter, of the University’s Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing department, who has been named as one of The Big Issue’s Top 100 Changemakers in 2020 for making a positive impact on society through her research on holiday hunger.
