From Antarctica to the Arctic, global warming to disaster risk reduction, Geography takes place at a truly global scale at Northumbria. Research in this department is focused in five groups: Cold and Palaeo Environments; Social and Cultural Geographies; Disasters, Development and Resilience; Geochemistry, Ecology, Climate and Conservation; and the Northumbrian Environmental Training and Research Centre. 

Prospective PhD students: Opportunities to carry out postgraduate research towards an MPhil/PhD or MSc by research exist in all the areas identified above. Further information may be obtained from The Graduate School.
